Privacy policy.
Privacy is not a feature of TimeToTest. It is the entire reason the service can exist. This is how we handle information.
Our approach
TimeToTest is designed so that people can notify partners without exposing themselves. We collect the minimum information needed to send a message, retain almost nothing, and never build a profile of you.
Information we handle
To send a notification, the app briefly handles the phone numbers you choose to notify and the diagnosis category you select. The diagnosis category shapes in-app guidance and is not stored against your identity, because there is no account and no identity on file.
- No name, email, or login is required to use the app.
- The diagnosis is used in the moment to guide you and is not retained against any person.
- Recipient numbers are used only to dispatch the message.
Phone numbers
Recipient phone numbers are processed only to deliver the SMS. They are not retained by TimeToTest after dispatch, except where a number has been added to our permanent opt-out list so that it never receives a message again.
No accounts
There are no user accounts. You do not sign up, log in, or create a profile. There is therefore no account history for us to hold, share, or lose.
The message we send
The outgoing SMS is a single, fixed message. It recommends testing, links to NHS sexual health services, and identifies itself as sent anonymously via TimeToTest. The sender’s identity and number are never included.
Recipients and opt-out
Anyone who receives a message can opt out permanently by replying STOP, END, CANCEL, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE, or by using our opt-out page. Opted-out numbers are recorded solely to prevent future messages.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party processors to deliver messages and host the service (for example, an SMS gateway and cloud infrastructure providers). These providers act on our instructions under data-processing agreements and are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes.
Data retention
We keep data for the shortest time possible. Recipient numbers are discarded after dispatch. Opt-out records and minimal abuse-report records are kept for as long as needed to protect recipients and run the service safely.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, and objection. Because we hold so little, and nothing tied to an account, some requests may have little to act on. To exercise a right, email hello@timetotest.app.
Cookies and the website
This website is intentionally lightweight and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any storage used is limited to making the site function.
Children
TimeToTest is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process data relating to anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
