Worldwide ambition.
UK first.
TimeToTest exists to reduce onward STI transmission by removing the friction and discomfort from a conversation people too often avoid.
Why we exist
After an STI diagnosis, telling recent partners is one of the most effective ways to stop an infection spreading. It is also one of the hardest conversations to have. Fear of judgment, awkwardness, or simply not knowing what to say means many people never make contact at all.
TimeToTest removes that barrier. By making notification anonymous, we make it possible to do the right thing, even when a direct conversation feels impossible.
What we do
We let someone anonymously notify their recent partners by SMS so they can get tested. The sender’s identity is never revealed, and phone numbers are not retained after the message is sent. Every message links to the NHS sexual health clinic finder so help is one tap away.
How we’re structured
TimeToTest is a Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales under company number 17163328. It is asset-locked to Terrence Higgins Trust (charity no. 288527), which means any value the organisation builds is locked to its mission and to the charity, never to any individual.
That structure is deliberate. It keeps the service non-profit, mission-driven, and accountable, so the people who use it can trust why it exists.
Built lean, privacy first
TimeToTest was built by a small, founder-led team using modern, low-cost tools so the service can stay free for everyone. We collect as little as possible, retain almost nothing, and design every screen around protecting the people on both sides of a message.
What guides every decision.
Privacy first
We collect the minimum and keep almost nothing. Anonymity is the product, not a feature.
Non-judgmental
Every word is written to support, never to shame. A diagnosis is health information, not a verdict.
Recipient safety
Protection runs both ways. Misuse is prohibited and every report is reviewed quickly.
Free and open
Free to download and use. Supported by donations, never by selling data.
